Dog-friendly eateries around Brockwell Park

Blog

You’ve just walked twice around the perimeter of Brockwell Park, lost count of the number of times you’ve thrown that, now soggy, tennis ball, and stopped to chat to other dog walkers several times, whilst your pooch barks impatiently by your feet.

Now you are in need of a sit down and some decent grub, not to mention something to quench your thirst. Chasing squirrels can be so exhausting can’t it?

But where do you go? If you step in to that coffee shop you’ve had your eye on for weeks, will you be marched straight out again?

Good news all Brockwell-ites. The local businesses are pretty dog friendly. Very much ‘Dogs Allowed’ policies from Herne Hill to Tulse Hill to Brixton.

urDog spoke to many of the pubs, bars and restaurants that are a stick’s throw from the park exits, to get the low down on their poochy preferences. Here’s what they told us:

The Commercial
We are dog friendly. We provide dog bowls, water & dog treats and also have two outside areas, (seats outside the front overlooking Railton Square and a small patio at the back). We have no restrictions on when dogs are allowed.

First Aid Box
We allow any dog and provide pigs ears and water bowls. Nothing else; just everyone’s welcome

The Prince Regent
As dog lovers and owners ourselves, we have always prided ourselves on welcoming dogs into the pub at all times, and with no restrictions. We of course offer water whenever asked by the owners. A number of local dogs, including the owners, were photographed inside The Prince Regent for the Pub Dogs Of London book published last year.

The Parlour
We are very dog friendly! Lots of regulars who come in before/after heading to Brockwell Park, and we often have three or four stretched out relaxing. Free dog treats and always water bowls. We also make homemade oaty sardine and spirulina biscuits to buy. At Christmas we decorated the cafe with Polaroids of our dog guests, (some even kept their Santa hats on).

Tulse Hill Hotel
We welcome dogs in our bar area and in our garden areas. We also have nice water bowls available for the dogs.

Olleys Fish and Chips
No dogs allowed here we’re told

Mimosa
We have a lovely patio space outside that accommodates dogs in the summer but unfortunately we cannot accommodate dogs inside the café due to hygiene rules.  We don’t currently provide any treats but could provide water on request.

The Lido Cafe
We welcome dogs, large or small, onto our outside terrace, although it does get a bit busy when the sun’s out so we can’t always guarantee a space. We have bottomless water bowls and will happily take orders for sausages and more for a four-legged breakfast.

We’ve not managed to pin down the following local businesses. Perhaps you could let us know if they are dog friendly? Email us at bark@urDog.co.uk

The Florence
Fish & Wine
Pullens
Off the Cuff
Steve’s Cafe
Cafe Provencale
Hootenany
